You’re probably wondering when and how fast the economy is likely to recover for a lot of strategic planning reasons like: when are sales likely to increase, or when should I hire more employees. Every business is different, but overall you should see the following occur within a reasonable margin for error. These figures were created from historical unemployment data from 1976 to Dec. 2009. These projections are purely economic-based.

From Jan 2010 to the first quarter of 2012 unemploymentis projected todrop from 10% to approximately 7.2%. This projection is based on thehigh in California unemployment rate of about 10.8%in 1983that decreased to 7.2%in 1985 and the high in California unemployment rate of about 9.9%in 1993that decreased to 7.8%in 1995.

From about the first quarter of 2013 to the first quarter of 2016 California Unemployment is projected to drop from 7.2% to about 5%. This projection is based on the technical indicators from 1985 though 1988, 1996 though 1999 and 2004 through 2006.

From about the first quarter of 2016 tothe fourth quarter of 2016 California Unemployment is projected to hold at about 5%. This projection is based on the technical indicators from 1988 through 1990, 1999 through 2001 and 2006 through 2007.

From about the fourth quarter of 2016 to the first quarter of 2019 California Unemployment is projected to increase from about 5% to 6.8%. This projection is based on the technical indicators of California Unemployment of about 7.2% to 6.8% in1980 through 1981, 1985 through 1986, and 2002 through 2004. It also includes indicators in California Unemployment of 7.8% in 1991 and 1995 through 1996.

From about the first quarter of 2019 to the first quarter of 2021 California Unemployment is projected to hold at about 6.8%. This projection is based on the technical indicators of California Unemployment of about 6.8% from 2002 and 2004, and it issupported by indicators in1980 through 1981, 1985 through 1986, and 2002 through 2004.

Although it is inconclusive whether California Unemployment will increase after the first quarter of of 2021, theperiod of time between recessions is increasing. This is an overall good sign that’s shows the financial management ofCalifornia and the nation as a whole is slowly improving over time.In addition, the recession in 1983 had a high CaliforniaUnemployment rate of 11% and the recession of 1993 had a highCalifornia Unemployment rate of 9.9%. Ten years later we had a mini-recession with a highCalifornia Unemployment rate of 6.9%. If you exclude the most recent recession,you would see that the nation was thriving and the impact of recessions was decreasing, thenin 2007 things started to change.

International Factors:

Jobs, raw materials like iron and petroleum,and FDI started to shift to China. Although many investors are optimistic about earning 15% in China, while the US and Europe are recovering from a recession. These new markets will not sustaindouble digitgrowthindefinitely due to wage increases in China. The biggest problem is that China holdsit’s own currency to inflate the value of its dollar relative to other currencies, then the Chinese government makes large purchases ofiron and petroleum at a huge discount. Recently, they were caught trying to own a controlling interest in several US petroleum companies.Under normal circumstances you would think China is a growing country, and that’s why they are buying up a majority of the world’s iron and petroleum. However, we’ve known for years now that they are stockpiling more than 80% of their iron and petroleum. Why? Aren’t bullets and military equipment made out of iron? Don’t they need petroleum to fuel their aircraft and tanks? Although the rewards from investing in China may be initially attractive, the risk of losing all of your investment as a result of politicalaction orwar may not be worth the risk.

Domestic Factors:

Real estate values in the US from 2004 to 2008 were overinflated by over-optimistic home appraisals. Thisresulted in excessive spending and debt from refinancing, HELOCs and home sales.Once creditorsdecidedto slow down the excessive spending, people lost their jobs. Mortgage rates have been very low the whole time, sothe problem isnot Adjustable Rate Mortgages. It’s people out of work. This couldeasily be prevented in the future by best practices that place a cap on average nationwide real estate growth.Appraisers that go over theaverage rate set in their area, should be investigatedand possibly lose their license.

Talk about a lame duck. George Bush can’t wait for the next 60 days to come and go. He has seen his Administration suffer under what’s admittedly the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. The unemployment rate has been climbing for months and now stands at 6.5%. October’s drop in payroll employment followed declines of 127,000 in August and 284,000 in September. Employment has fallen by 1.2 million in the first 10 months of 2008; over half of the decrease has occurred in the past 3 months.

The loss of 1,000,000+ jobs this year portends serious problems for 2009 without GM going bankrupt.

Can Obama work a miracle? U.S. President-elect Barack Obama said on Saturday that he was crafting an aggressive, two-year stimulus plan to revive the troubled economy, warning that swift action was needed to prevent a deep slump and a spiral of falling prices. “If we don’t act swiftly and boldly, most experts now believe that we could lose millions of jobs next year,” Obama said in prepared remarks for the weekly Democratic radio and video address. “We now risk falling into a deflationary spiral that could increase our massive debt even further.”

Risk? Risk you say!

The U.S. automobile industry could add another 1,000,000 lst jobs to that data if they don’t gt some government help. Everyone knows that but how can we keep bailing people out? Congress will send President-elect Barack Obama an economic stimulus package the day he takes office Jan. 20, two Democratic lawmakers said today. Senator Charles Schumer of New York said on ABCs This Week program that the package will be between $500 billion and $700 billion. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, of Maryland, said on Fox News Sunday that he believed the Inauguration Day goal would be met, but he declined to put a price tag on the bill.

How low can the economy go and how high can the unemplyment rate go?

The IMF’s chief economist has warned that the global financial crisis is set to worsen and that the situation will not improve until 2010, a report said Saturday. Olivier Blanchard also warned that the institution does not have the funds to solve every economic problem. “The worst is yet to come,” Blanchard said in an interview with the Finanz und Wirtschaft newspaper, adding that “a lot of time is needed before the situation becomes normal.”

Brittany Murphy’s Funeral

Brittany Murphys funeral service will be held on Christmas Eve at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills, which is where the late Michael Jackson was buried. Her service was listed as strictly private.

It has been a tough week for Brittany Murphys family following her tragic death on Sunday morning, and now new details regarding her funeral have been released.

The Clueless actress will be laid to rest at a funeral service to be held on Thursday (Christmas Eve) at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.
There is an ongoing investigation into the details of the Clueless passing, though Murphys cause of death is likely thought to be cardiac arrest.

Per the coroners report, there were many prescription medications found in Brittanys residence, though no foul play or overdose is thought to have contributed to her death.

A “devastated” Simon Monjack told PEOPLE his wife Brittany Murphy did not overdose on drugs and did not suffer from an eating disorder.

“My world was destroyed,” an emotional Simon Monjack told the television entertainment news program “Access Hollywood.”
The British screenwriter spoke a day after the “Clueless” star died on Sunday after suffering cardiac arrest at her home.

Recalling how Murphy’s body was found, Monjack said her mother “Sharon went into the bathroom because she had been in there a long time. Her mom screamed for me and I ran. Then called 911.”

Monjack acknowledged his wife had been sick in the days leading to her death but that none of the symptoms seemed serious.

“She had laryngitis,” he said, noting she had seen a doctor. “She had been tired at the end of the year. She had made a couple movies.”
Monjack, a photographer, first met Murphy on a photo shoot when she was 13 after she moved to Hollywood with her mother, Sharon. They began dating after being reintroduced at Murphy’s 28th birthday party and married a year later.

“So many people have their views of us, but they never met us or sat down with us,” he said. “I’m not perfect, but I don’t think anyone is … I am feeling beyond devastated. I was in love with Brittany and Brittany with me.”

The couple had plans for 2010: Brittany would continue to work, but she wanted to get pregnant.

This weeks economic reports will be highlighted by Fridays unemployment report, which analysts expect will illustrate the 11th straight month of declining job ranks in the U.S. economy.

Non-farm payroll employment fell by 240,000 in October, and the unemployment rate jumped to 6.5%, up from 6.1% the month before, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in early November.

Octobers drop in payroll employment followed declines of 127,000 in August and 284,000 in September, according to revised BLS reports. Employment has fallen by 1.2 million in the first 10 months of 2008, with more than half of that decrease occurring in August, September and October. In October, job losses continued in manufacturing, construction and several service-providing industries. Conversely, the healthcare and mining sectors saw their job ranks grow.

And its going to get much worse before it gets better, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) has predicted. Goldman Sachs says the U.S. unemployment rate will spike to 9.0% by the fourth quarter of 2009, as corporate profits plunge an estimated 25% and thats after an estimated decline in profits of about 10% this year, Goldman analysts say. The U.S. economy as measured by gross domestic product (GDP) will decline by 5.0% in the current quarter, followed by declines of 3.0% in the first quarter of 2009 and 1.0% in the second quarter, Goldman analysts predict.

Those numbers are worse than Goldman originally predicted, and create an outlook similar to Money Morningsprojections, which called for a credit-crisis-nurtured economic downturn that could last as long as 12-18 months.

The NBER yesterday (Monday) formally announced that the U.S. economy peaked and entered into a recession in December 2007. The U.S. Commerce Department estimated that the U.S. economy, as measured by GDP, rose 0.9% in the first quarter. In the second quarter, GDP advanced an estimated 2.8%. For the third quarter, GDP declined an estimated 0.3%.

Also this week, the U.S. Federal Reserves We have marked down our forecasts for US real GDP in response to continuing signs of falling domestic and foreign demand, labor market deterioration, renewed tightening in financial conditions, and an apparent impasse in fiscal policy pending the transfer of power to the Obama administration in late January. As a result, we expect the unemployment rate to reach 9% by the fourth quarter of 2009, profits to fall 25% for 2009 as a whole following an estimated 10% drop this year, and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) to use nontraditional policy tools more aggressively, as detailed below – Beige Book – due out tomorrow (Wednesday) offers a look into activity within the various regions of the country.

The rumor has it that the Nobel Peace Prize will finally come into play to end the Democratic bid of Hillary Clinton. Say what? Enough is enough. Both Obama and Hillary have their flaws- and they aren’t little ones either. Of course we all do you know. That’s why we are called HUMANS! Well, that’s part of the reason. We all too well know a lot of the reasons for our zits.

The reason that the Nobel Peace Prize will play such a huge role in making Obama the Democratic nominee is that it has given that prize to two very influential Democratic party elders. Can you say Al Gore and Jimmy Carter?

Former president Carter and former vice-president Gore have already held high-level discussions about delivering the message that she must stand down for the good of the Democrats. “They’re in discussions,” a source close to Carter told Scotland on Sunday. “Carter has been talking to Gore. They will act, possibly together, or in sequence.”

The Clinton meltdown is about to come to it’s in-glorious end.

Thus, Jimmy Carter and Al Gore are being lined-up to deliver the coup de grce to Hillary Clinton and end her campaign to become president. Falling poll numbers and a string of high-profile blunders have convinced party elders that she must now bow out of the primary race. Bessides, hasn’t everyone had enough of the Bush-Clinton scenarios? Let Bubba and his tarnished star fade into the darkened skies while Hillary tries to grapple with just being a Senator from New York.

If there must be a Clinton drama, let’s make it about if they’ll stay together after she loses the nomination. How would they divide up their tens of millions in income? No, they need each other in so many unusual ways! If Hillary isn’t going to be president in 2008 will Bill tire of trying to keep his personal escapades so private and get on with who he really is, or will there be hopes for maybe Hillary in 2012?

U.S. President Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. He earned prestigious award with his efforts for peace in the world and with the hope that he gives people.

Obama became in the beginning of this year the first black U.S. president, and since then he is repeatedly calling for a reduction of nuclear arsenals around the world. Also thanks to the efforts for nuclear disarmament as well as the revival of stalled attempts to Middle East peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, he has become this year’s Nobel Prize Winner for Peace.

Committee for the Nobel Prize wrote that Obama has proved with his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people. Only few people on the world can catch the attention of the world and give people hope for a better future. He is one of them”, they declared in a statement.

“His diplomacy is based on the premise that those who run the world, should work in accordance with the values and attitudes held by the majority of the population in the world,” it is said in the grounds of the prize.

The Rising Unemployment Numbers

The number of unemployed persons increased by 851,000 in February 2009. That brings the number of unemployed people in the United to states to 12.5 million. Over the past 12 months, the number of unemployed persons has increased by about 5.0 million.

When you read these numbers it is easy to let the numbers roll off your tongue without much thought. When you really sit and think about the numbers, and the people who ARE those numbers, then it becomes a reality.

Losing their job and struggling to pay the bills has become a reality for millions of Americans. They tell us the economy is improving, yet more companies are laying off workers every day.

I am writing this article in hopes that you can help me in giving a voice to millions of Americans. I have started an online clothing company called I LOST MY JOB CLOTHING. There are two main goals of the company. To give back to the people who need it most and to give Americans a voice by wearing the shirts and allowing them to share their stories.

We hope our site will help get the message out and put a face behind the rising unemployment numbers. $1 per shirt sold will be donated to a deserving family who needs help. Michael Jackson, the self made King of Pop has said that he is finally hanging up his glove and will play the O2 for the last time. This new show called “This is It” will be Michael Jackson’s master piece. He has promised to play all of his old hits that all his fans want to hear. That includes classics like Billie Jean, Thriller, Beat It and Smooth Criminal. Critiques were concerned because during previous concerts he did not perform the hits that made him famous. Instead he chose to play his newer songs. They were fine but fans wanted to hear the oldie and goodies. To squash the critiques Michael Jackson has guaranteed that he would perform his old hit and produced the list to reassure this would be the truth.

I don’t know about you have to tell you this show has been a long time coming. It has been around 12 years since he played a concert like this one. Ever since his acquittal he has shyed away from the camera and decided to live a more relative life away from the camera. But I have to tell you that his fans have been in Michael Jackson shock waiting for the next fix. The crack of his show has left his fans shacking in their boots and now is there chance to see one of the most anticipated shows to hit the music circuit in decades.

If you have not gotten tickets for this show yet you may be out of luck, although, there are plenty of tickets still being sold on sites like 911-tickets.co.uk and viagogo and eventwave. Expect that you will pay a premium though when purchasing. If you’re not willing to pay a premium then expect to not get a ticket this time around. Even with Michael adding more show, the tickets sold out on the second or third day. Ticket sites like ticketmaster UK are reporting an increase of hits to their sites with the announcement of the Michael Jackson O2 Show. It just shows that people still want to hear Michael Jackson in concert.

There have been talks of comparing Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley as the “greatest” performer or entertainer that had lived. The two superstar’s deaths had many similarities. The both of them lived very special lives and never without fans and media whenever they are in the public. Among some of the similarities between the two is : both had superb voice and fancy footwork; both of them had been imitated by many look-alikes and both have their own signature poses; and finally, both of these superstars had their own distinctive hairstyles. Whether he is actually better than Elvis is another controversial issue. Personally, I don’t think they can be compared in that sense – first of all, both had lived in different eras and performed distinctively different kinds of music. I would say that they are both great in their own way. However, they are both superstars in their own way. Elvis was the King Of Rock N’ Roll and the best of his era and Michael, the King of Pop and arguably the best of his generation. With Michael’s death, the two will be compared even more.

Will We Ever See Another Michael?This is a very difficult question to answer. For one, Michael is and will always be a class of his own. Personally, I don’t think any other celebrity will be able to replace him. Even if there are any celebrities who can sing and dance the way he does, it is his overall personality that makes him unique. He has changed the world in his own ways..contributed huge sums to world charities and organizations as well as tried to end world hunger (at least he tried to make that change…)

Frankly speaking, I don’t even know where to begin! The list is just too long…After all, he is the number one celebrity contributor to charity organizations according to The Guinness Book Of World Records. Among his contributions was to work with sick children (among his personal favorite), AIDS organizations, homelessness, poverty and hunger. He spent a great deal of his money and even time to help those who are deprived of basic necessities. Indeed, his contribution in the field of humanitarian cannot be denied. He was one man that tried to make the world a better place and he started with the Man in the mirror.

Michael’s Work With Ronald Regan

Ex-president Ronald Regan had presented Michael with the Presidential Public Safety Communication Award in 1984 for his role in contributing to charities and organizations of those that was involved in eradicating alcohol and drug abuse. However, as ironic as it may sound, it is due to drug abuse that ultimately led to his death. Very sad and tragic indeed. R.I.P Michael…We will always remember you! The motives behind the appetite of the public for stars and there related items, history, memories and the like is almost unbelievable. I am not sure if the reason for such interest lies in the wanting to be like the person or wishing and fanasizing that you are that person.

Being star struck has always facinated me. I have met with some famous people and even had the opportunity to interview famous celebrities like Warren Buffett, Larry King, Jon Huntsman, Orin Hatch, Buddy Hackett, Peter Lupus, Steve Miller, the list goes on and on. But I was never “starstruck” per say. And, in every case, the person I met was so nice and down to earth.

The desires of the public eye baffles even the greatest marketers and advertisers from the world over.

Does being a princess or being Michael Jackson, make that person any more of a person or less of one? Well there are some pretty great people out there who are famous by those terms, but there are plenty of people out there who are really great and no one knows anything about them!

The show premiered on entertainment / celebrity T.V. channel “E!” on August 16th 2009. I don’t really expect Kourtney and Khloe take Miami to be any better, as the pair set sail and decide to open up a new D-A-S-H store on the east coast.

Personally I don’t think the show will be any better then the first, who the hell wants to watch two people who are famous for being famous live out their daily lives? Clearly those who have nothing better to do with their own lives.

This episode is rumored to be title “Hangover Helpers”. See, just from the title of the show’s episode you know it’s going to be, well I could probably create a list of 100+ profanities to use. Anyway, moving on. Khlo decides to auditions at the D – A – S – H store in order to find someone suitable to date Kim, but guess what… Kim gets drunk. I know, not that interesting in my mind either.

Kim Kardashian, star of the hit reality television show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, knows a thing or two about public exposure. Scores of people have already seen her bootylicious bod in the buff thanks to her previous sex tape scandal and her equally infamous Playboy photo shoot. Thus, when her sister Khloe Kardashian posed nude for a PETA campaign ad recently, Kim played the part of the supportive sibling.

The girlfriend of the New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush wrote a blog entry slamming critics who claimed that Khloe’s photo for the animal rights group was airbrushed extensively for the campaign. Kim says:

“I am so proud of Khloe for following her passion for animals. Some bloggers are being harsh about her PETA ad, claiming her photo was heavily airbrushed… But photographer and good friend Troy Jensen, who shot the ad, was quick to quell the rumors saying… ‘I really did NOT do any body shaping on [Khloe]. This week’s economic reports will be highlighted by Friday’s unemployment report, which analysts expect will illustrate the 11th straight month of declining job ranks in the U.S. economy.

Non-farm payroll employment fell by 240,000 in October, and the unemployment rate jumped to 6.5%, up from 6.1% the month before, the Bureau of Labor Statistics it.nr0.htm&_gwt_noimg=1&gsessionid=WMYc0GYp5Wk8WJPB1D0-ow”>reported in early November.

October’s drop in payroll employment followed declines of 127,000 in August and 284,000 in September, according to revised BLS reports. Employment has fallen by 1.2 million in the first 10 months of 2008, with more than half of that decrease occurring in August, September and October. In October, job losses continued in manufacturing, construction and several service-providing industries. Conversely, the healthcare and mining sectors saw their job ranks grow.

And it’s going to get much worse before it gets better, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) has predicted. Goldman Sachs says the U.S. unemployment rate will spike to 9.0% by the fourth quarter of 2009, as corporate profits plunge an estimated 25% – and that’s after an estimated decline in profits of about 10% this year, Goldman analysts say. The U.S. economy – as measured by gross domestic product (GDP) – will decline by 5.0% in the current quarter, followed by declines of 3.0% in the first quarter of 2009 and 1.0% in the second quarter, Goldman analysts predict.

Those numbers are worse than Goldman originally predicted, and create an outlook similar to Money Morning’sprojections, which called for a credit-crisis-nurtured economic downturn that could last as long as 12-18 months.

The NBER yesterday (Monday) formally announced that the U.S. economy peaked and entered into a recession in December 2007. The U.S. Commerce Department estimated that the U.S. economy, as measured by GDP, rose 0.9% in the first quarter. In the second quarter, GDP advanced an estimated 2.8%. For the third quarter, GDP declined an estimated 0.3%.

Also this week, the U.S. Federal Reserve’s “We have marked down our forecasts for US real GDP in response to continuing signs of falling domestic and foreign demand, labor market deterioration, renewed tightening in financial conditions, and an apparent impasse in fiscal policy pending the transfer of power to the Obama administration in late January. As a result, we expect the unemployment rate to reach 9% by the fourth quarter of 2009, profits to fall 25% for 2009 as a whole following an estimated 10% drop this year, and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) to use nontraditional policy tools more aggressively, as detailed below – Beige Book – due out tomorrow (Wednesday) – offers a look into activity within the various regions of the country.

Duncan: Opposition of Obama School Speech “Silly Stuff”

As anyone who saw a campaign poster in 2008 could surely tell you, Barack Obama is all about change. Change in the White House, most profoundly in the simple, yet stunning, fact that we now have our first black president. Change in the tenor of politics, in an effort to step back from the ferocious partisanship of the past decade. And change in the direction of the country, in the form of a dramatic shift in the priorities and policies of the government.

Yet change, Obama also knows, can be frightening. Too much change can seem radical, threatening, dangerous. During the campaign, Obama had to overcome the deep-seated fears of many Americans that his particular brand of change would only mean change for the worse.

So Obama has always made a conscious effort to balance his calls for change with equal references to the timeless continuities of American history, seeking to cast his own political movement as nothing more than the culmination of the work of Lincoln, Roosevelt, Jefferson, Kennedy, and the other great leaders of our past. (Obama deliberately began his campaign, for example, in the same place that Lincoln began his own run for the White House, and ended it by taking the oath of office on Lincoln’s bible.)

Obama’s best speeches have all been peppered with historical allusions and quotations. Over the course of the campaign, Obama breathed fresh life into some of the most moving phrases offered in the past by Lincoln (”a new birth of freedom”), Martin Luther King (”the fierce urgency of now”), and Cesar Chavez (”yes we can”).

This morning’s inaugural was no exception to Obama’s tradition of using the past to frame the present, as the inaugural address was full of historical allusions–some obvious, some not so obvious.

So what exactly was Obama referring to with each of his invocations of the past? Let Shmoop be your guide…

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.

Actually, only 43 presidents have taken the oath. (Grover Cleveland, who won the presidency in 1884, lost it in 1888, and won it back again in 1892, counts as both President #22 and President #24… so while there have been 44 distinct presidencies, there have only been 43 different presidents.) Aside from that bit of random trivia, the new president’s point here is to emphasize the continuity of the presidential transfer of power, in times good and bad, as prescribed in the Constitution (that’s what Obama’s invoking in his references to “We The People” and “our founding documents”).

Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted–for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things–some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.

For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.

For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.

For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn.

Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction.

Here Obama invokes the experiences of a wide variety of Americans, from all walks of life, in triumphing over adversity. Those who “packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life” would include both the first European settlers of America–the rugged colonists of Jamestown and the Puritan refugees of Plymouth Rock–but also the later generations of immigrants who poured into the country through most of the 19th and 20th centuries. Those who “toiled in sweatshops and settled the West” were the factory workers of America’s industrial revolution and the pioneers of Manifest Destiny. The “the lash of the whip” is both an obvious reference to slavery and, perhaps, a sly reference to a line in Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural (”every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword”). Concord and Gettysburg and Normandy and Khe Sanh were momentous battles of the Revolutionary War, The Civil War, World War II , and Vietnam War, respectively.

…As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations.

Obama’s reference to a false “choice between our safety and our ideals” is almost certainly meant to echo Benjamin Franklin’s famous dictum that those who “give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” The main peril faced by our Founding Fathers–Franklin among them, of course–was defeat and punishment at the hands of the British. The “charter” they drafted, the “charter expanded by the blood of generations” throughout American history, is the Constitution of the United States.

…Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please.

Here Obama refers to American victories in World War 2 (over fascism) and the Cold War (over communism), both of which were achieved not only through force of arms but also through effective diplomacy–the Grand Alliance with Britain, the Soviet Union, China and France in World War 2, and the NATO alliance of Western powers against the Soviet bloc in the Cold War.

…This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed–why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent mall, and why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.

These words were perhaps Obama’s most direct (yet still fairly subtle) reference to the profound racial significance of his election as President of the United States. Throughout the Jim Crow era, Washington, DC was essentially a Southern city–which is to say a segregated city. As late as the early 1960s, when Martin Luther King came to the city leading the March on Washington, the most admired black man in America was still only able to stay and eat in certain establishments inside the city’s African-American districts.

…So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America’s birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:

“Let it be told to the future world…that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive…that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet [it].”

America. In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children’s children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God’s grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

Obama closed his speech by invoking the bitter winter of 1776, which George Washington and his soldiers spent in camp at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. American prospects in the Revolutionary War at the time looked bleak, as Washington’s men shivered and starved through the long winter knowing that they would soon have to go into battle against a fearsome British Army that regarded each and every one of them as a traitor to the crown.

The most famous quotation to emerge from the ordeal at Valley Forge was, interestingly, one that Obama chose not to use–Thomas Paine’s declaration that “These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it NOW, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.” While our own predicament as Americans facing difficult circumstances in early 2009 can hardly compare to the hardships endured at Valley Forge, Obama’s choice to end his inauguration by invoking the nation-making struggles of our forebears was almost certainly offered in the hopes of restoring a sense of national unity and purpose similar to that fostered by George Washington two centuries ago. If Obama succeeds in that, he will surely join Washington in the pantheon of great American presidents.

It’s Saturday and there is a big fight feel on campus. You wake up and immediately go into rabid fan mode when you start sifting through your college football jerseys. Yes, it’s the kick-off Saturday for college football and you are ready to go!

Every fan has their own reason for rooting for a particular team. Although geographic location tends to breed fans for the local cities it’s not always the case in pro sports. Often a person has outside reasons for donning the colors of a team other then the one they grew up watching on television. It could be a fondness in youth for a mascot or team colors. It could be the star football player that was drafted to a team outside of your local market. Whatever the reasoning behind which professional sports franchise you root for it’s obvious that people have a million different reasons to explain why their fan-hood is better than the next persons.

However, college football is a much different animal and fans of college football are ravenous fans that don their college football jerseys with a fervor that is unmatched in any other sport. They will paint themselves and wear nothing to a game other than a small thong. They will root in the face of all adversity with the same passion as they would if they were up by fifty points in the third quarter. Tailgating parties have been known to start days before the big game and end days after. It’s tradition and it’s a true battlefield of warriors that spans generations of athletes and scholars alike.

Families go to college, not individuals. To clarify; generations tend to go to the same school so it’s easy to see how college sports can become part of a family’s DNA. They spend generations upon generations learning in the same hallowed halls and cheering on the same battered fields of glory. It’s no wonder that you see so many families passing down their college football jerseys to younger generations. You’ll see more authentic vintage jerseys are college football than you’ll see at any other level of sport. With this type of generational heritage it’s easy to see why college football has a die-hard loyal following that any other sports promoter would kill to have.

When you wake up on that season kick-off Saturday you’ll surely feel a sense of ability. It’s an ability to cheer your team to the national championships. The ability to become part of a snapshot of history that will live on for all of history, as you become the elder sportsman and you indoctrinate your younger generation into the family fold. You’ll pass down your college football jerseys with pride and you’ll regale stories of when you were in those stands, cheering your team to a national championship.

No matter which professional team you root for it will not compare to the passion that you’ll feel for the team that took you to new places as a younger college student. Those were the times of your life and the memories that will mean more to you than any professional ballgame could ever mean.

Kennedy’s disease, also called is spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy. It is an advanced degenerative condition affecting worse motor neurons. It is one of nine neurodegenerative disorders result by a polyglutamine repeat expansion. Kennedy illness affects the lower motor neurons, which are responsible for movement of the arms. It also affects the nerves which supply the bulbar muscles, which control breathing, swallowing, and talking. Kennedy disease can also affect the endocrine system and the regulation of fats (lipids) in the blood. Kennedy disease is caused by a genetic defect on the X (female) chromosome.

Kennedy disease is likely to occur in 1 in 40,000 individuals worldwide. Kennedy’s illness means the patient’s mother carries the faulty gene on one of her X chromosomes. Daughters of patients with Kennedy’s disease are also carriers and have a 1 in 2 chance of having a son affected with the disease. Symptoms of Kennedy’s disease comprise weakening and wasting of the muscles, particularly the arms and legs. Other major symptoms embrace severe cramps and problems with speech and swallowing. The muscles of the face, lips, tongue, mouth, throat, vocal chords, trunk and limbs may be affected.

Very large calves may also be found in several patients with this disorder. The symptoms usually first seem when the person is aged between 30 and 50 years. Kennedy’s disease is gradually progressive. Individuals tend to remain ambulatory until late in the disease, although some may be wheelchair-bound during later stages. The life span of individuals with Kennedy’s disease is usually normal. Kennedy disease may have other effects on the body, including gynecomastia, meaning enlargement of breast tissue in males, disorders of fats (lipids) in the blood and diabetes mellitus (blood sugar problems).

There is no known cure for Kennedy’s disease. Treatment is symptomatic and helpful. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy are important for maintaining an individual’s abilities and for adapting to the progression of the disease. Adaptive equipment can assist maintain mobility and independence. Genetic counseling is also helpful this condition because Kennedy disease is related to the X chromosome, so if a woman is a carrier of the defective gene her sons have a 50% chance of have the disorder and her daughters have a 50% chance of being a carrier. Fathers cannot pass Kennedy disease on to their sons.

Kennedy’s legacy

In the four decades since his death, John Kennedy’s life and presidency has been the subject of wild fluctuations of fortune. In the sixties, a series of laudatory books, mainly written by his trusted inner circle was published celebrating their hero. Inevitably for a man who reached such heights the fall was heavy as a number of revisionist’s books in the seventies and eighties chronicled Kennedy’s addictions to junk sex, involvement with the mafia and even the death of Marilyn Monroe.

His legacy degenerated from the man of peace and the civil rights knight of Camelot to that of a dangerous cold war warrior with a luke warm commitment to the black movement and the man who started America’s disastrous involvement in Vietnam. Recent assessments may be more balanced, finding both achievement and failure, but the days of Kennedy as the paragon of the modern American president have vanished.

However, a continued focus on his personal life and on the political decisions of his administration inevitably misses his real legacy – the social revolutions of the sixties.

Kennedy’s election was a landmark social and political event in both American history and through American dominance of politics and culture, world history. His victory was a death knoll to sincerely held beliefs about age and religion (he was improbably young and Catholic) and institutional authority. The message was clear, if you wanted something badly enough it was yours for the taking, whatever the obstacles. As Kennedy himself said in answer to a question in 1960 about why he thought he should be President: “I look around me at the others in the race, and I say to myself, well, if they think they can do it, why not me? Why not me? That’s the answer. And I think it’s enough”. If our current world is marked by a breakdown in what is seen as traditional authority, look no further than Kennedy’s election for a precursor.

His youth and religion worried Kennedy more than any other issue during the campaign. The answer was to tackle the religious issue head on (”no one asked me if I was Catholic when I went to war”) and to turn his youth to an advantage. This was achieved by running a campaign that stressed the stagnation of the fifties and promised to get the country moving again. Vitality was his central message and his central image. Norman Mailer wrote of Kennedy at the Democratic convention at Los Angeles in 1960 as an existential hero and that with him “we as a nation would finally be loose again in the historic seas of a national psych which was willy-nilly and at last, again, adventurous”.

The vision of an optimistic future lay at the very heart of Kennedy’s campaign and he carried it through to his inauguration. He preached a new frontier of economic prosperity, social justice and peace. Active citizenship (ask not what your country can do…) was demanded and a joy of life promised.

However, Kennedy always tempered his message of optimism and call to arms with warnings of the perils of nuclear war. His campaign speeches, acceptance speech at the convention and his inauguration speech were peppered with warnings of a nuclear holocaust and the need to actively pursue an alternative cause.

His presidency was a reflection of these competing messages. There could be no better example of the boundless possibilities for humanity than sending man to the moon, a task undertaken because it would be “impressive to mankind” and because of its unparalleled difficulty. There could be no better example of the fragility of nuclear peace than the Cuban missile crises, which took everyone to the brink of oblivion.

Optimism makes people push beyond their limits as they lose the fear of consequences and the heady optimism of the Kennedy years together with the shadow of peril served only to intensify and speed up the process. Kennedy had himself shown the path with his breaking of authority and the relentless image of his continued youth and glamour kept him centre stage throughout his presidency. America responded with unprecedented social revolution. Civil rights, the woman’s movement, the beat authors, music and drugs all flowered in the early sixties as society underwent fundamental change.

The final act of the Kennedy presidency, his assassination only served to deepen the process. Life had to be fulfilled without hesitation; no one was safe from arbitrary acts of violence, even the presidency. If it taught nothing else, his death taught everyone the fragility of life. No wonder there has been a yearning for conspiracy, for darker forces to explain why he died, without such a reason his death becomes nothing more than random.

Richard Reeves, the American presidential historian said, “Kennedy was a surpassing cultural figure – an artist, like Picasso, who changed the way people looked at things” This was his legacy. The debates may rage about his policy over Vietnam, his personal life and his legislative record, but all such argument misses the larger sweep of his effect on America. John Kennedy changed the way people looked at their world and in doing so they changed their own lives.

Marilyn Monroe sang the sexiest version of ?Happy Birthday? ever in the history of the world ? to him. Kim Kardashian, star of the reality-based television show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians“, has said that she won’t be taking off her clothes anymore. Kim, who shot to infamy because of her sex tape scandal (which her old Paris Hilton also became infamous for) and who has posed nude for last year’s Playboy Celebrity Issue, said enough is enough. She said, “It was a one-off. I don’t think I’ll do Playboy or anything like that again.”

Kim has decided to do charity work instead. Kim, along with her sisters Khloe and Kourtney, have recently held an EBay auction for charity, and they’ve chosen to donate almost their entire collective wardrobe. Kim, who’s starred in “Disaster Movie”, said, “A portion of the proceeds go to the Dream Foundation. My dad passed away from cancer so the funds go towards granting wishes for terminally-ill adults.”

Kim, who was in the latest season of “Dancing with the Stars”, recently celebrated the season finale at the afterparty held in Foxtail. Kim, along with her boyfriend Reggie Bush, have both decided to do more charitable work by donating both their cars to the Dream Foundation. Kim’s Range Rover and Reggie’s Mercedes-Benz will be used to help the Dream Foundation with their goal of granting wishes to terminally-ill adults.

Kim said that, “A percentage of the proceeds from this and all my auctions will go to my favorite charity, the Dream Foundation, a really wonderful organization that grants wishes to terminally-ill adults. I volunteer for them and love the way they’re making a difference in the world… one person at a time.” Kim has also been kept busy with her new shoe collection, Shoe Dazzle, which she unveiled in the Rohn Padmore Red Carpet Suite in Los Angeles.

The fans of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” will be happy to hear that season three has just wrapped up. Kim said, “We are just about done filming season three of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Jackson probably died as a result of all the stress and anguish of the years of accusations and resulting court cases over the last 10-15 years. Michael was apparently fighting fit two days before his death, as he was preparing to play a 50 date concert at the O2 Arena in London, England. His body most likely couldn’t take the strain of the rehearsals that put upon him.

A cardiac arrest is when the heart stops beating and happens without warning. Though they are both deadly, a cardiac arrest needs treatment within minutes if not seconds, where as a heart attack can come on more slowly, as long as the patient is made comfortable they can survive long enough for help to arrive, but I must STRESS this is not always the case as every situation is different.

Along with his amazing legacy of music and a sorted legal history, Michael Jackson also leaves behind an endless number of questions surrounding his unusual personality and life. What exactly was the cause of his death? An official pronouncement from the coroner has been postponed pending toxicology reports, but rumors are rampant concerning his addiction to prescription drugs and the courts want the opportunity to speak with his various doctors. Will we now learn more about the plastic surgeries and other alterations he chose to endure? Finally, there is a question that likely will be answered in a California courtroom over the weeks and months to come. What is to become of Michael Jackson’s children? Michael Jackson leaves behind three children whose new home is yet to be determined–Prince Michael, age twelve, Paris Katherine, age eleven, and Prince Michael II (also known as Blanket), age seven. The first two kids are the product of his marriage with the former nurse for Mr. Jackson’s dermatologist, Debbie Rowe, which lasted from 1996 to 1999. Ms. Rowe originally gave up all custodial rights when the two terminated their marriage, but successfully appealed to have parental rights restored following Jackson’s arrest in 2003 on child molestation charges. The youngest boy was born to a surrogate mother who has never been identified. In fact, official documentation lists “None” in the space indicated for the birth mother. So, the California courts are left with two birth mothers who have had little or no contact with their children. What are the possible options at this point?

California law considers several issues when determining child custody cases, using the guiding factor of the “best interest of the minor child” as the overriding influence in such decisions. First, the courts examine the best environment for a child’s safety, health, and welfare. They also check for a history of physical abuse or violent crimes committed by any of the parties seeking to share in the custody. The stability and continuity of an environment is critical in the eyes of the court. Children need to have established bonds and patterns with the person who is deemed to be the primary caretaker. Unless there are circumstances that require otherwise, such as specific health or educational needs, all efforts will be made to keep siblings living together. Finally, the court must give “due weight” to the wishes of the children in this difficult situation, assuming that their ages and reasoning ability allow them to express such a preference.

Earlier this week, Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, was granted temporary guardianship of all three children. In a will written by Michael Jackson in 2002 and released the day after Mrs. Jackson received temporary custody, the courts revealed that this placement was in accordance with Jackson’s last wishes. However, Mr. Jackson does not necessarily have the final say in where his children will live until they reach adulthood. The well-known celebrity attorney Gloria Allred said about the situation, “”If he did indicate a preference, that will be given great weight, but that will not be determinative. Children are not property, they cannot be willed to another person.” So far, however, Katherine Jackson is the only possible guardian who has expressed an outright and definitive interest in caring for the children. She has a long-standing relationship with all three of the kids and is surrounded by other grandchildren of the Jackson family. This environment could prove the most stable and loving for Prince, Paris, and Prince Michael II. Charlotte Goldberg, a family law professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, said that in all child custody cases, “It’s really a balance between continuity and stability and a biological relationship.”

Where does the current state of affairs leave Debbie Rowe? Experts believe that she has the strongest legal claim to the two oldest children, if she should choose to assert her parental rights. As this article is being written, Ms. Rowe has just requested and won a delay in the upcoming custody hearing as she decides whether or not she wants to pursue her rights to raise her two children. This legal move today was the first communication that Ms. Rowe has offered since the death of Michael Jackson a week ago. If she does decide to move herself to the front of the custody line, which would likely be her legal prerogative, Ms. Rowe would need to undergo an evaluation by the court to determine if she is the best person to care for the children.

Whether a celebrity or someone who has never found herself on the cover of a tabloid magazine, the emotional issues involved with child custody situations are always difficult. Above all else, it should the desire of the courts and all parties involved to make the decision that is in the best interest of the children. Where will the children feel most secure and loved while working through a painful life transition? Who is surrounded by the best support network when extra assistance is needed with the children? Who can provide the most solid financial support? It was won based upon the fervent articulation of a vision which was intertwined with the visions that Americans have for their lives and their children’s lives. It was a vision which showed that President Obama was able to recognize, appreciate, and understand the needs of his followers. He knew that the American people had lost trust in the country’s leadership; his vision spoke to restoring it. He knew the American people were overcome by a tidal wave of hopelessness that was causing many to drown in despair; his vision offered hope. Every leader must have a vision which offers tangible benefits for those that they lead.

EMPOWER OTHERSAccording to John C. Maxwell, one of the nation’s foremost authorities on leadership and author of Leadership 101, leaders don’t delegate; they empower people. After being in office less than two weeks he won House approval for an $819 billion stimulus plan to aid the nation’s ailing economy “with no time to spare,” and signed his first bill into law, The Lilly Ledbetter Pay Restoration Act which is a new law that makes it easier for employees to sue their employers for discrimination in paying them and effectively nullifies the legal limitations.

“It is fitting that the very first bill that I sign — the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act — that it is upholding one of this nation’s founding principles: that we are all created equal, and each deserve a chance to pursue our own version of happiness,” Obama said upon signing.

LANGUAGE & DEMEANORWords like integrity, values, ethics, responsibility, and principles belong to the lexicon of effective leaders who choose their words felicitously. They are aware of the influence that their messages, demeanor, and actions communicate. When President Obama was seen “dusting off his shoulders” while campaigning against Hillary Clinton and “exchanging pounds” with his wife, he subtly communicated his blackness to both whites and blacks.

Taken out of context or ill-timed they would not have registered as positively, but after then Senator Obama established himself as the front-runner for the presidency and a bona fide leader, these two little gestures received big reactions and cemented his status as a politician with personality. It also illustrated his emotional intelligence (awareness of how others feel) and tacit knowledge (street smarts) which have been intangible traits of the greatest leaders.

FULFILL REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSGreat leaders have a profound reverence for their role. They don’t revel in power, but in their ability to affect change. They are possessed and obsessed with their greatest responsibility: fulfilling the requirements for success in their every endeavor. They know that their success is not their own, but the success of their followers. Yes, being a leader is a difficult task in which your effectiveness is measured by the results you get, and your legacy is determined in the aftermath of your reign. President Obama summed it up in his inauguration speech which I will use to sum up this article:

“What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility — a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character than giving our all to a difficult task.”

Barack Obama Stimulus Plan “Without Earmarks”

President Barack Obama has finally signed into law the $787 billion stimulus plan or what is now officially known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. After months of speculations, arguments and frustrations over the economic stimulus package, people are now eager for it to be put into action. The newly passed bill aims to provide a stimulus to the U.S. economy in the wake of the economic downturn brought about by the subprime mortgage crisis and the resulting credit crunch.

So what’s in it for the average man in crisis? As part of Obama’s agenda, the stimulus plan includes an income tax cut for most Americans earning less than $200,000 a year. Under the plan, individuals would receive up to $500 and families up to $1,000 through a cut in payroll taxes on the first $8,100 in income. It also plans to act on Obama’s agenda on modernizing the economy, health care and education — while creating jobs.

So how will the US government spend the $787 billion? The following list from Associated Press states the highlights of the highly anticipated stimulus package.

* AID TO POOR AND UNEMPLOYED:

$40 billion to provide extended unemployment benefits through Dec. 31, and increase them by $25 a week; $20 billion to increase food stamp benefits by 14 percent; $4 billion for job training; $3 billion in temporary welfare payments.

* INFRASTRUCTURE:

$48 billion for transportation projects, including $27.5 billion for highway and bridge construction and repair; $8.4 billion for mass transit; $8 billion for construction of high-speed railways and $1.3 billion for Amtrak; $4.6 billion for the Army Corps of Engineers; $4 billion for public housing improvements; $6 billion for clean and drinking water projects; $7.2 billion to bring broadband Internet service to underserved areas; $4.2 billion to repair and modernize Defense Department facilities.

* HEALTH CARE:

$24.7 billion to provide a 65 percent subsidy of health care insurance premiums for the unemployed under the COBRA program; $86.6 billion to help states with Medicaid; $19 billion to modernize health information technology systems; $10 billion for health research and construction of National Institutes of Health facilities; $1 billion for prevention and wellness programs.

* EDUCATION:

$44.5 billion in aid to local school districts to prevent layoffs and cutbacks, with flexibility to use the funds for school modernization and repair; $25.2 billion to school districts to fund special education and the No Child Left Behind law for students in K-12; $15.6 billion to boost the maximum Pell Grant by $500 to $5,350; $2 billion for Head Start.

* NEW TAX CREDIT:

About $116 billion for a $400 per-worker, $800 per-couple tax credits in 2009 and 2010. For the last half of 2009, workers could expect to see about $13 a week less withheld from their paychecks starting around June. Millions of Americans who don’t make enough money to pay federal income taxes could file returns next year and receive checks. Individuals making more than $75,000 and couples making more than $150,000 would receive reduced amounts.

The NFL Paves the Way For Michael Vick’s Return

Love him or hate him, Michael Vick was one of the premier players in the National Football League prior to his felony convictions stemming from an illegal dog fighting ring. As part of his punishment, Vick was suspended indefinitely by the NFL prior to serving a year and a half long prison term. Recently, league commissioner Roger Goodell announced that he will allow Michael to return no later than 6 games into the regular season. He will still be able to practice and participate in preseason activities.

Despite this news, Vick still has to find a team that is willing to sign him. Although he hasn’t received any offers yet, the rumor mills have been working overtime. Some NFL insiders have said that a number of teams are showing interest in Vick. Most analysts say that whoever signs him will do so under the radar in an attempt to dodge the spotlight, but that is going to be impossible.

Everyone has an opinion on the Vick situation. While many people believe he has served his time and handled his punishment, there are others that think he will never be able to attain the status he once had. During the peak of his football career, Vick was rolling in endorsements and undisputed fame. He was able to acquire a number of properties throughout the United States and invest in any business venture that piqued his interest. After his conviction, Michael Vick lost millions of dollars in wages and endorsement deals. He was forced to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy while serving his prison term.

I think he will find it difficult to land a new contract. After all Michael Vick has done to tarnish his image, any team that takes him on will be inviting scrutiny and controversy. Analysts have agreed that his new team will undoubtedly face a public relations nightmare and may also see protesters marching outside their stadium. We’re in a severely unstable economic climate. There isn’t a single team in the NFL that can afford a potential controversy of epic proportions that could lead to a loss of revenue. Teams will definitely have to weigh the benefits of bringing in Vick versus the possible ramifications his contract would bring.

With the amount of debt he is facing, Michael Vick needs to find a way to make ends meet and make good on his financial obligations. Unfortunately, I am not entirely certain he is going to be able to hide from his reputation and reclaim his status as a successful player in the NFL.

Obama Seeks Support for Health Care Bill

President Barack Obama sought to rally support for sweeping health care legislation on night on July 22 as Congress struggled to find agreement on a historic overhaul. He vowed to reject any measure “primarily funded through taxing middle-class families.”
Obama defended his decision to set a midsummer deadline for the House and Senate to act. “I’m rushed because I get letters every day from families that are being clobbered by health care costs, and they ask me can you help,” he said.

According to Obama, In addition to helping millions who lack coverage, the health care legislation is central to the goal of eventually rebuilding the economy stronger than it was before the recession that began more than a year ago. Medicare and Medicaid are the government health care programs for the elderly and the poor. If the health care isn’t been reformed, the premiums and out-of-pocket costs will continue to skyrocket.

Obama said he believed, by eliminating waste, it was possible to fund more than two-thirds of the cost of health care legislation and redirecting federal funds already being spent. The rest must come from higher taxes, he said. It was not immediately sure whether the president was signaling he would accept at least some higher taxes on middle-class families as the price for winning passage.
Health care is an important issue. Obama is seeking to extend coverage to millions who don’t have it and to hold down the long-term costs of health care. How to pay remains a complex political question.

If you wanted to know facts about Jupiter then read on, our research has uncovered some amazing information around this fascinating planet.

Planet Jupiter is the second most significant body in our solar system. With enormous gravity, Planet Jupiter is probably the most captivating planet in our neighbourhood and is composed principally of hydrogen, a assumption exists that within the core of the planet the force is so great that metallic hydrogen is created from solid molecular hydrogen. This effectively means that humans could never live on Jupiter given the lack of a tangible surface, the immense winds and other human defying conditions.
How did Jupiter gets its name? The original name derives from the Greek word ‘Jove’ which is also the Greek name for ‘Zeus’, the mythical Greek god.

When did Galileo discover Jupiter? In 1610 Galileo published an explanation of his telescopic examinations of the moons of Jupiter giving rise to the date of 1609 which is around the time Galileo is thought to have first identified the planet.

Jupiter was explored in flybys in the 1970s by NASA’s Pioneer 10, 11 and Voyager 1 & 2, and is currently being studied by the Galileo spacecraft. This huge planet is comprised of 90% hydrogen and 10% helium and contains small amounts of methane, water and ammonia. It’s winds are the strongest at middle northern latitudes, reaching about 370 miles per hour. Jupiter has a small set of three rings that were created by the dust and rock remnants of its innermost moons and meteor collisions. The rings are made up of three ring patterns, the halo, which is the innermost ring, the main ring in the middle and finally the gossamer ring, which is the outermost one. Jupiter, in fact, is often cited as a micro Solar System, due to the many small objects it controls via its gravity.

It in addition has around 63 recognized satellites comprising the four Galilean moons Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto many of the additional satellites are not named, and it is likely that there are some still to even be detected. These satellites are collectively named the Galilean Moons following the man who detected them through the first astronomical scope over four hundred years ago.

The planet Jupiter measures in a 142,984 kilometres in diameter and is considered one of the great gas planets of our solar system.
The planet has long been familiar for the Great Red Spot, a complicated storm active in a counter-clockwise bearing, right across the planet. This monstrous storm is a huge oval shaped physical characteristic on Jupiters surface that measures around 12,000 by 25,000 kilometres, sizable enough to house 2 to 3 Earth sized planets. Individuals on Earth have studied the colourful and famous Great Red Spot on the surface of Jupiter for over 400 years and it has recently been revealed that Jupiter is now growing a new red spot.

This recent storm is about half the dimension of the present Great Red Spot and virtually the same colour. The official title of this storm is ‘Oval BA’, additionally referred to as ‘Red Jr’ for obvious reasons. Oval BA first presented itself in 2000 when three smaller spots clashed and merged, and it is thought that similar merger centuries ago may have produced the first Great Red Spot, some 300 years ago.

The structure of Jupiter’s surfaces is comparable to stars, made virtually of liquid and gas. Astrologers deduce that when a planet causes a significant quantity of heat internally, such as is the case for Jupiter, convection in the atmosphere can convey thermal energy from the higher temperature interior to the surface. Since Jupiter is a gas planet lacking a solid surface, what we view when we study the surface of Jupiter is the atmosphere that continues deep into the planet.

The Rise of Erin Andrews – Where to Next?

For over a year now, Erin Andrews has been given plenty of attention, especially in the blogging community. Her name seems to pop up everywhere on the internet. There are Erin Andrews pictures on many sports blogs. However, her career path is now somewhat at a crossroads. Where does she go from here?

Erin has always held strong to the claim that she wants to be treated seriously as a sports reporter. She has undoubtedly always faced some push-back to this claim by bloggers who want only to merely treat her as a sex symbol. Even a former AP writer accused her of having a flirtatious reporting style and being a clubhouse distraction.

Erin has seemingly tried to walk the tight rope of embracing the blogosphere, while also delivering high-quality reporting. She has successfully climbed the ranks at EESPN and is now part of the marquee team that delivers the Saturday night college basketball broadcast each week. She hasn’t had quite as much luck with college football, typically being used for the Thursday night ESPN game rather than the primetime ABC games on Saturday nights.

The question then that remains – does Erin continue on her sports broadcasting career path, or should she instead pursue a position in mainstream entertainment reporting, say on Access Hollywood. This would seem to be an easy transition for her given all the attention she already receives. While there were reports that a move like this may be possible, Erin has publicly committed to staying in sports broadcasting. Is this the right move?…only time will tell.

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958-June 25, 2009)[2]

Was an American Pop Icon known as the king of pop. He was born into the Jackson family as the 7th child of Joseph Jackson. When Michael Jackson was very young, 11 years old, he and 4 of his siblings began a band with their father Joseph Jackson as the manager. The band was called “the Jackson 5″ and the group attained much commercial success.

It was not until 1971 that Michael Jackson left the Jackson 5 and began his solo career. He went on to become one of the most famous recording artists of all time and eventually became the “king of pop” a title he bestowed upon himself. His solo albums hold many titles for their astounding number of sales. 5 of his albums hold records for number of sales.

His career really began to take off in the early 1980’s. and he was one of the first and most popular black artists to gain a prominent following on MTV. This was due in large part to the huge budget and extravagant budgets of his music videos for his songs. Songs with record holding videos include: Beat it – Billie Jean – and Thriller.

Some of these videos are so influential that they are credited with changing music videos from a recording of the song into mini movie works of art. This led further to Michael Jackson’s popularization of amazing and complicated dance choreographing and musical numbers. This dancing featured prominently in his live shows. His record breaking live shows earned him enormous amounts of money.

Some of the dances moves popularized at these live shows include the robot and the moonwalk. Michael Jackson’s musical influence stretched across many musical genre’s including hip-hop, pop and R&B in part because of his eccentric and distinct style of vocals and music.

One thing that many do not know about Jackson is that he raised and donated MILLIONS of dollars to over 39 charities for a multitude of causes through his namesake foundation. This is often overlooked due to his appearance and increasingly bizarre and changing appearance. Not to mention a string of child molestation accusations…

Obama Home Stimulus Plan. This is the most awaited time by homeowners to come that can lessen their difficulty in setting their payments dues for monthly mortgages fees. The new administration under President Barack Obama started with the new goal, “Make Home Affordable”.

You can be eligible for this plan if your unpaid balance is equal or can be lower than $729,750; if the monthly mortgaged increased that you cannot pay for it; if you started off the mortgaged before or on 1st of January 2009; and if you are the property owner or occupant of the house.

Before you can apply for the Obama’s Home Stimulus Plan, you may check first the documents that you need:

1. Your recent income tax return.
2. Mortgage balances and minimum monthly payments paid through credit cards.
3. Documents about any second mortgage house.
4. Monthly payments and account balances on all other debts like other loans.
5. Documents about the monthly gross income including any other source of income.

Once you have all the documents that you need, you can follow the instructions how you can apply for the Obama’s Home Stimulus Plan:

1. You can go the either of the two government websites, United States Department of Treasury or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and send an application.
2. If you call the government about the program, make sure that you mention the correct name of the program that is “Make Home Affordable” in sending your application.
3. You may call also contact the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development or also known as HUD to the phone number 1-800-FED-INFO (333-4636), in order to get more information about this plan.
